Emmy-Award-Winning, Guinness-Record-Breaking Rap Star Frzy to Open Charity Gala
‘Gold In It’ Mustang Will Be Featured at Pittsburgh International Auto Show’s Events
PITTSBURGH (01/28/2020) — Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Frzy has made an international footprint on the hip-hop scene as one of the industry’s most versatile recording artists. Embodying the hard-working, true-grit reputation of the Steel City, Frzy continues to reach new heights in his career while also maintaining a strong relationship with his hometown community.
And that’s why the Emmy®-Award winner has agreed to open the Pittsburgh International Auto Show charity gala, Dancing with the Cars, at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center set for February 13. Also on display will be the “Gold In It” Mustang featured in Frzy’s latest hit video.
In addition, Frzy will make a personal appearance in Neighborhood Ford Store’s auto show exhibit area at the Pittsburgh International Auto Show on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020, at 3 p.m.
“When Joey Thurby of Neighborhood Ford Store told me about the event, and how it benefits local children on the autism spectrum, I couldn’t turn down his request to take part,” Frzy explained.
Indeed, Frzy is popular among many age groups, but is a particular favorite of children (as well as the young at heart). He won an Emmy® Award in 2018 for his collaboration with PBS and WQED on a segment that honored Pittsburgh legend Mister Rogers. The segment, which celebrated the 50th anniversary of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, broke a ratings record for PBS and featured a performance by Frzy to an original hip-hop version of “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” (which he also wrote and produced). In addition to his many career accolades, Frzy also loves to educate young up-and-coming artists and has spoken to students at some of the nation’s most prestigious institutions of higher learning, including Harvard Law School, Berklee College of Music and Carnegie Mellon University.
“Neighborhood Ford Store places great value on our relationship with Frzy. This talented – and much-in-demand — entertainer is extremely generous with his time to support causes we are proud to sponsor in our community,” explained Mr. Thurby, representing the Board of Directors for both Neighborhood Ford Store and the Greater Pittsburgh Automobile Dealers Association (GPADA). The Pittsburgh International Auto Show is an annual event held by the GPADA.
Frzy’s music career was launched after winning several notable rap battles, including DJ Kay Slay’s Hot 97 ‘Drama Kings’ at the Pyramid Club in New York City. His intense performance earned him a spot on Nelly’s St. Lunatics Tour, where he performed alongside Naughty by Nature for crowds of 30,000. Frzy soon after became the official spokesperson for the Subway Melt, while also adding Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Machine Gun Kelly, Wale and others to his performance resume.
Frzy is a true emcee. His talent is recognized widely across many channels, and he has had many notable historical achievements. Frzy appeared on 50 Cent’s “16 or Better” cypher series (presented by Jack Thriller), released a national newsworthy music video for his hit song “Witness,” has been featured in Rolling Stone Magazine, MTV and Yahoo! Music. His latest internationally acclaimed video is “Gold in It” which was produced in Pittsburgh and features the glitter-gold Mustang, the only one of its kind. Recently, Frzy shattered the Guinness World Record for freestyle rap by turning in a 31-hour performance.
